Abstract: The Voluntary Action Directorate of the Secretary of State produced this set of nine practical booklets, ranging in size from 16 to 228 pages. The titles are: Getting Started: Board of Directors; Planning; Financial Management; Public Relations; Volunteer Management; Paid Personnel Management; Fund Raising: Getting Ready; Fund Raising: Ready to Go; and Government Relations. Each handbook explains the basic concepts relating to its subject and provides an outline of relevant information. Several booklets have forms or questionnaires to use as an aid in planning. Beginning and small organizations especially will find these handbooks very useful.
