Gay activist's slaying commemorated

Year Published:  1989
Resource Type:  Article

Abstract:  When gay activist Joe Rose was murdered on a Montreal bus by a group of youths who taunted him about being gay, McGill University's CKUT radio devoted a 15-hour day of programming to discussions about what it means to be gay or lesbian in a homophobic society. The program included taped interviews, radio plays, profiles of homosexuals in history and panel discussions with parents of gays and lesbians.
