-

Modern Times is a 1936 American part-talkie satirical slapstick comedy film that was directed, written, and produced by Charlie Chaplin. In Chaplin's last performance as The Tramp, his character is an assembly line worker who eventually suffers a nervous breakdown due to the stressful and repetitive nature of his work. Struggling to survive in the modern industrialized world, The Tramp seeks the help of a young homeless woman.

The film was one of the first twenty-five films selected by the Library of Congress in the United States for preservation in the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
