A free press is a fundamental feature of a vibrant and accountable democracy. An independent press acts as a disseminator of information as well as a check and balance of elected representatives and government.

Abstract:  The South East Asia Journalists Union (SEAJU) calls for the Malaysian government to repeal the 1984 Printing Press and Publication Act in order to uphold press freedom.
