Abstract: Canada has an agreement with the United States that allows the U.S. Navy to conduct anti-submarine warfare systems tests in Georgia Strait on Canada's West Coast. In Our Own Backyard is a video which relates the stories of several members of a peace group who used nonviolent direct action in an effort to stop the weapons testing. "The Gandhian method they use extends into all aspects of their lives and the documentary offers a unique glimpse into the motivations and beliefs of a group of people who have organized to deal with global issues at a personal and local level. The colour video, produced and directed by Anne Cubbitt, is 24 minutes long, and costs $40 for peace and community groups.
